I taught piano for three-quarters of a century, and at first, I never heard anything about allergies. I always had my students come for a half hour private lesson every week, and a 40-minute group lesson every week, with their peers, and I homogeneously grouped them according to their ability and their age. We would have a wonderful time playing games and things in this group lesson. On the holiday weeks, like Valentine, I always had little parties for them. I would say, “Pianists are special, so we get special treatment.” I would make our Valentine cookies, decorate them, and have red Kool-Aid. Just, have a fun time.
Pretty soon, the last, actually, starting about 2010, the students started being more and more allergic to more and more things. I would even have children in the same family be allergic to different things, and they would say, “Is there any sugar in this?” Or, “Is there any butter in this?”, Or, “Is there any milk in this?” And I started having to provide a variety of things for them. Instead of just one or two things, I had to make something for every child. If there were six in the group, every one of them was allergic to something different.
I started thinking, “This is crazy. I’ve never heard of so many allergies. What is wrong with these children, and why are they all so allergic now?” I began to think, “It must be something to do with their diet.” So, I started studying that, and now I’m a certified health coach, and I’ve learned that that is what is wrong with our children. Is, not only are they not eating enough fruits and vegetables, but the fruits and vegetables you get at the store have been modified in lots of different ways, and even the soul that it’s grown in has been modified. So, they’re not really getting true, healthy things. Even if you do buy fresh things from the grocery store.
